Judith Snively has lived, worked and raised a family in Harris County, calling it her home for almost 30 years. She has dedicated her career as an attorney to a law practice primarily focusing on the challenging dockets of the Harris County Criminal Courts of Law.
Judith launched her legal career here more than 20 years ago, and credits her drive to succeed in part to her husband, Attorney David Mitcham, and to their daughter, Susannah, a student at Lamar High School. Her family is very important to her and she is extremely "grateful for the tremendous support and inspiration she receives from them on a daily basis."
Throughout her successful career, extensive travel and the navigation of international markets have helped Judith develop a well-rounded perspective and approach to the practice of law. In seeking office, she is committed to ensuring fair and equal treatment under the law, as well as to bringing a fresher perspective to the bench-something she believes can only benefit our county judicial system.
The Ohio-born attorney lived on four different continents before making her way to the Lone Star State. As a child she lived in Germany, where her father served in the United States Military, and as a teenager, she spent her high school years in Australia, Ohio and Argentina. Judith returned to her home state to complete her B.A. in International Studies at Ohio State University, and went on to receive her law degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston. Prior to graduation, Judith participated in a semester of legal courses at Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City.
As Houston and Harris County's population becomes increasingly diverse and cosmopolitan, her broad range of experience brings a solid international perspective with a valuable understanding of different people, cultures, customs and sensibilities that will be beneficial to the bench. Judith learned to speak Spanish at a young age, something that has been an asset in maintaining a broad base of clients from around the world, and in offering a helping hand when a bilingual speaker is needed on her cases. Since opening its doors, her law practice has handled cases in almost every area of law, for clients from North and South America, Europe and Africa and Asia.
Rounding out her accomplishments, Judith is also a licensed Real Estate Broker with a focus on International Markets. She is the Managing Broker of International Home Brokerage, and the Chair of the International Committee of the Houston Association of Realtors. Having handled legal transactions in real estate matters for several years, and having formed business relationships in foreign countries, the field was a logical choice to compliment her existing background and expertise.
